The language of flowers was a means of communication in the Victorian era, where different flowers were used to send secret messages to other people to express their feelings that could never be spoken. This language has now been lost, although there are flowers that still symbolize feelings, such as red roses imply passion, roses love and white roses purity. Even though there is no longer an exact translation of Victorian feelings, flowers still convey and carry meaning. We have chosen:
- tulip: symbolizes a sincere declaration of love. The dream of a crazy and extravagant love, an extreme love, or a hopeless love. Red ones especially symbolize eternal love.
-rose: symbolizes love, romance, and fidelity. They represent innocence, "my feelings for you are pure", the red ones especially are love and passion. Although they have a very beautiful meaning, they also hide a dark meaning since they also symbolize hatred, death, despair, infidelity, and jealousy.
-lilies: symbolize a love that has already worked and lasts forever also that loving the other person makes them happy. However, reds and oranges signify a love that burns.
Even though they have beautiful love meanings they also hide a sign of emotional manipulation to reach forgiveness and start the violence cycle again and again.
The hands covering her mouth represent how difficult is for someone going through that situation to report domestic abuse. The main reason for not reporting lies fundamentally on the victim herself, in the visceral fear that grips her. It is not just fear of the abuser, it is fear even of others, of what they will say, of losing their children, of not knowing how to survive when the relationship ends.
